Emphasis is an important ingredient of good content. Without it, you will face high bounce rates because there would be nothing for visitors to focus on. People often skim and scan through text, pausing only when something captures their attention.
While adding CTA buttons or explicitly highlighting text aims to make content stand out, underlining text offers a subtler approach.
This guide will demonstrate two methods of underlining text in Notion.
Let’s get started.
Method 1: Using keyboard shortcuts
Get more nimble with Notion by using keyboard shortcuts. Here’s how to quickly underline text with hotkeys:
1. Open the Notion page
We will refer to the Notion blog below to demonstrate the process of underlining text.
2. Click and drag your cursor across the text you want to underline
You can alternatively use hotkeys to highlight the phrase that you want to underline.
3. Use the CMD + U shortcut on Mac or CTRL + U if you use Windows
Use the CMD + U shortcut on Mac or CTRL + U on Windows to underline text, as demonstrated in the screenshot below.
Method 2: Using the Text Formatting menu bar
A faster alternative to the previous method is clicking on the Underline icon that appears on selecting text. Here are a few screenshots that demonstrate the workflow.
1. Highlight the text you want to underline
2. Click Underline in the Text Formatting menu
The Underline icon is indicated with an arrow in the image below.
